FlexLine Process Hard Turning
After the heat treatment all functional surfaces of the gear require a fine finishing, to achieve the optimum functionality of the work piece. The most important functional surfaces are the tooth flanks. But the bore, certain faces and possibly the synchronous cone need hard fine finishing in the process chain.
Based on the proven turning machine FTC 180, Felsomat developed a hard turn and grinding machine with increased rigidity and integrated measuring technique, which produces the quality relevant characteristics in µm accuracy. Same the green turning the machine has two spindles which have the same set up for the operation. With this configuration the machining time is in parallel to load and unloading.
The grinding spindle with up to 30.000 rpm and integrated acoustic emission sensor, is integrated into the turret and is machining in alternation. The grinding process for dry machining is perfected. The base requirement to make this possible, is perfect roundness and cylindricity and therefore only a minimal stock of less than 5 µm required. The dressing of the grinding wheel is done automaticaly within the machine.
The diameter of the parts machined with hard turning and grinding are offloaded into a post process gage and checked a 100%. The results are used for a dimension compensation of the machine.

Highest quality as input parameter for the final gear honing process or the final gear grinding process is therefore guaranteed. Usually one FTC 180 is required for a line tact time of 20 seconds. The module hard turning and grinding with the FTC 180HS is meeting every demand of lean production:
- Simple work flow and clear processess with a more simple logistics
- Avoidance of wast and over capacity
- Highest work piece quality as input parameter for the following finishing of the gear teeth
- Perfection of the continuous flow production, One-Piece-Flow
